Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 225

CI patient #225 was a 71 year old male from Tennessee. The patient was a CI member at the time of his death.

The patient died on June 12th, 2022.  The patient was picked up by a local funeral home and kept in refrigeration with ice packs until transit permits and flight arrangements could be made.  The patient arrived at the CI facility on June 14th at 7:25pm.  The patient’s nasal temperature upon arrival was 11.1c.  A perfusion of the head was attempted.  The perfusion started with 1.5 liters of 30% EG and then switched to 4 liters of 70% VM1.  The perfusion was terminated shortly after it started due to excessive edema.

The patient was then transferred to the computer controlled cooling chamber to cool to liquid nitrogen temperature.  The amount of time required to cool the patient was 43 hours.  The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
