Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 213
CI patient #213 was an 80 year old male from New York. The patient was not a CI member at the time of his death.
The patient died on July 12, 2021. The patient was kept on dry ice at a funeral home until the family could reach a decision. The family decided to sign a contract with CI. Once the contract was signed and the funds were transferred, the patient was transported to Detroit Metro Airport, where he was picked up and brought to the facility. The patient arrived at our facility on September 8, 2021.
The patient was then transferred to the computer controlled cooling chamber to cool to liquid nitrogen temperature. The human dry ice program was selected and the time needed to cool the patient to liquid nitrogen temperature was 25 hours. The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 212
CI patient #212 was an 88 year old male from Florida that recently moved to Michigan because of his poor health. The patient was a CI member at the time of his death.
The patient died at a nursing home on September 2, 2021 at approximately 8:20 pm. The nursing home staff cooled the patient by surrounding him with bags of ice. Heparin was not administered as the death was not expected. The patient was transported to the CI facility.
The patient arrived at the CI facility at 12:30 am. The patient was transferred to the operating table in the perfusion room and was immediately covered with more ice. The nasal temperature upon his arrival was 14c.
