Cryonics Institute patients are identified by number in the order in which they were placed in cryogenic storage at the Cryonics Institute. The date of storage and the patient number do not necessarily indicate the deanimation date of the patient, because a number of the patients were cryopreserved by other cryonics organizations and later moved to the Cryonics Institute. Most notably this occurred for the ten American Cryonics Society patients who had been being stored at CryoSpan in California and who were moved to the Cryonics Institute in April 2004.

Although it would be interesting to at least give age, gender and terminal condition of each patient, the identity of many of the patients is very private for the families concerned or even for the patients. So in the interest of respecting that privacy, names are given only when the public disclosure was unambiguously desired and published.

Case reports for all patients from number 69 and greater can be found on the CI website under Case Reports.

In 2004 ten American Cryonics Society patients were transferred from the CryoSpan
facility in California to the Cryonics Institute in Michigan, in addition to the eight new
CI patients that came from within CI in 2004. There were only 2 CI patients in total in 1990:
Robert Ettinger's mother (deanimated 1977) and Robert Ettinger's first wife (deanimated 1987).

ID = Patient number.

STORED = Date the patient was placed in storage at the Cryonics Institute.
