PRESIDENT'S REPORT by Ben Best
The Cryonics Institute will be holding an Open House on Sunday, June 24th from 3pm to 7pm at the CI Facility. Unlike the AGM this event is entirely devoted to explaining and demonstrating cryonics and CI practices through equipment, tours, mock-ups and a lecture. The more you, your friends and your family understand cryonics practice the better the chance you will be preserved under good conditions. CI Members are urged to attend and to bring guests. See the CI website, call us or e-mail us for more information.
Since the last issue of LONG LIFE magazine CI has received two new patients, bringing our total patient population to 79. We have received four patients since Christmas, making this the busiest time in CI history for new patients.
There are four CI Board of Director positions up for re-election and thus far the only candidates are the four incumbents. CI Members who have funding and contracts in place are urged to consider becoming a Board candidate as a means of advancing CI while learning more about problems and issues with running a cryonics organization. Good judgment along with use of e-mail are important assets for good candidates. An active contest for Director positions is healthy for our organization. The deadline for declaring candidacy is August 10, but declaration well before July is required to get good exposure as a candidate in LONG LIFE magazine and on the CI website.

Marce Johnson (seen right in 1966) was actively involved in cryonics since the 1960s, but a few years ago she became demented and allowed her cryonics funding to lapse.
She is currently institutionalized with Alzheimer's Disease. Donations are being accepted so she can be cryopreserved at CI. For more information contact Dave Pizer at david2090@aol.com or send PayPal donations to that e-mail address.
I will be giving a presentation about cryonics, CI and biogerontology in Austin, Texas on Monday, June 4th at a Transhumanist social being held at the home of Shannon Vyff. Shannon is the author of the world's first cryonics book intended specifically for children: 21ST CENTURY KIDS. Anyone interested in the book or the meeting should contact Shannon at shannonvyff@yahoo.com.
I will be giving a cryonics training session along with Alcor COO Tanya Jones in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on Friday, August 3, 2007. Anyone interested in attending should contact Patrice Levin at patricelevin@shaw.ca.
As of the end of April, 2007, the Cryonics Institute has 659 Members, 293 of which have funding/contracts of which 27 have funding/contracts with Suspended Animation, Inc. CI has 79 human patients in cryopreservation storage and 48 pets cryopreserved, along with DNA/tissue samples from 114 humans and 15 pets.
CAPTION CONTEST
There were no submissions for a caption
for the cartoon in the last issue. It was a difficult one. But that’s the only one we had, and there are no more, so, regrettably the contest has ended. Unless someone sends us an original futuristic cryonics related cartoon!
