Once again, we’re appropriating Chris Manning’s critique of the previous issue, as it appeared in the Cryonics Institute’s Yahoo Groups message board. In it, it appears that Chris peruses each issue meticulously.
This is an example:
In the breakdown of CI members by country (page 4), the numbers add up to 649, not the stated total of 648.
In the caption contest (page 16) I was imagining
that the man was saying something like 'Get that thing off my petunias!' I
suppose I should have sent that in. I will try to think of a suitable caption in
time to send it in for the current contest.
I was interested to read
about David Verbeke (page 21), especially the fact that he is a member of the
Skeptics Society of Belgium. For a skeptic to be also a member of CI can only
help its credibility. I assume his surname is (roughly) pronounced
'fair-BAY-kuh'. Is that
correct?
I consider myself a skeptic also,
and have subscribed over the years to various skeptics journals and been a
member of various skeptics groups on the Internet. I am still a member of the
Yahoo group Skeptics Forum (although no longer a frequent
contributor).
I suppose Linda Chamberlain is aware of the
existence of her Australian near-namesake Lindy Chamberlain, who became a
household name here after her baby disappeared at Ayers Rock in 1980.
An incorrect phone number for the Cryonics Association of Australia (inside back cover) continues to be printed. The correct number is + 61 (3) 9589 6236 if calling from outside Australia and (03) 9589 6236 in Australia. This has been corrected.
