GERMAN CRYONICISTS
To introduce myself briefly, I reside in the north of Germany
& have been interested in Cryonics, Transhumanism & life extension in
general for some time. However studying these subjects in theory is rather
exciting, my intention includes the practical application of available methods
as well. Therefore, I shall seek to complete the necessary arrangements for my
cryonics contract very soon. I’m looking forward to exchange opinions &
information with all of you here.
Regards, Jan
Nice to hear that someone else from Germany has signed up. I am
an American, living in the Nuernberg area in Southern Germany now for about 22
years. I haven't found too many people here sympathetic to the idea of Cryonics
though. I too plan on getting my paperwork together for suspension, but it does
seem bit complicated from here.
Good luck
Joe Raimond
Thank you, I'm also pleased to meet you & hear that you are
residing in Germany as well. I agree, you seldom come across people who are in
favour of cryonics in Germany. However, my impression is that one of the major
reasons is their lack of information. As you are also concerned with the
arrangements for your contract, it might be a good idea to exchange tips &
information on how to address the related issues such as the suitable insurance.
That is still turning out as a problem since the insurance doesn't accept
CI as the party receiving the funding. What have you experiences been as far as
this is concerned?
Regards,
Jan
My contact in Germany is Klaus: sames@uke.uni-hamburg.de
If you read German you could subscribe to his newsletter.
Best Regards, Stefan
Thanks a lot, Stefan. The contact that you have posted will
certainly
be of help for me
Kind regards,
Jan
Hi Jan,
I haven't had many experiences yet as far as funding is
concerned, as I have not been a member of CI for very long either. I have just
started talking to my lawyer about my testament. If it isn't possible with a
German insurance policy, I was thinking about prepaying it somehow.
Germany has such strong laws about what is done with bodies
though, that it seems unlikely sometimes that it would be possible to get to
Michigan in a timely manner without all the usual German red tape involved. The
recent CI patient from Germany though showed that it was possible, which gives
me some cause for hope.
My sister lives in Hamburg, so I am sometimes up
there visiting. If you like, we could meet sometime. Or, if you are ever in the
Nuernberg area, let me know and we could meet here. I read a lot about Cryonics,
Biotechnology, Nanotechnology and other sciences related to Cryonics and
extending life, but have never really found anyone here with a real interest in
this sort of thing.
Most of my friends think it funny, my wife thinks I am crazy. Lets certainly trade any information or experiences regarding both the contract and funding that we both have though. I want to make sure it is done right.
Thanks, Joe
Hi guys,
My name is Drew, I'm a CI member. If you are having trouble
with insurance in Germany I would suggest talking to Rudi Hoffman in the US. He
offers foreign insurance policies to cover cryonic suspension for people outside
the US. Jan, it's good to have you on board, welcome to the CI community.
