Meet Charles H. Jones

Mr. Charles H. Jones was born in Columbus, Georgia, an only child. He has no living relatives at all, but a host of good friends. His life’s goal is to retire in Barbados, plant an organic garden, catch fresh fish from a small skiff, and live out his days in peace and contentment.

Charles currently works in private practice as a clinical psychologist. He also teaches psychology at the University level. Charles resides in Southfield Michigan.

Charles is a licensed clinical psychologist. He holds three degrees in Psychology from Wayne State University with a specialty in Marital and Family therapy. Mr. Jones has held a number of positions with the City of Detroit, and the Federal Government, including psychological clinical profiler for the Department of Defense. He also was the director of the Employee Assistance Center for federal employees at Selfridge ANG base.

While employed with the City of Detroit, he ran the city’s first substance abuse program; he was also a psychological clinical examiner for the City of Detroit. Charles has a myriad assortment of hobbies; he is a certified beekeeper, in that he is interested in the social order of insects.

He first became interested in this subject, in that he found out that ancient Rome was laid out precisely as a beehive including the shape; the emperor at the back surrounded by servants, and soldiers at the front guarding the entrance of Rome. Some of Charles’s other interests are the opera, theatre, gardening, working out in the gym, and travel (he’s visited over eighty countries.) He is an avid chess player, and most importantly, an eternal, hopeless romantic when it comes to the Ladies!

Charles first came into contact with Professor Ettinger as a student at Highland Park Community College. He took all of the courses he could under Professor Ettinger in that he was one of the most popular professors at the school. Charles stated that Professor Ettinger had a very dramatic aura about him; so much so that the students actually had a dance named after him. Whenever Professor Ettinger was in the hallway walking, moving a projector, all the students would look out the doorway to watch his "cool" way of walking. Charles stated that Professor Ettinger would talk about Cryonics to his students, but of course at that time it was way way over their heads.

Years later Charles saw Professor Ettinger on the Johnny Carson show speaking about Cryonics, of course at that time no one took him seriously. My, how time changes things. Even today, Charles states many of his friends see him as some kind of kook, in that he is so passionate about Cryonics.

As a standing member of CI, with a contract in place, Charles touts Cryonics whenever and wherever he can. Charles stated that he is indeed honored to be the cover subject of the next issue of The Immortist. He also states that he would love to talk to other members of CI; his e-mail address is charleshjones@ameritech.net
