> DOES THE CRYONICS INSTITUTE (CI) ACCEPT DONATIONS?
Yes.
And
not only in the form of cash. We as an organization are very much in need
of skilled, professional-level volunteer help. If you have skills in anything
from desktop publishing to giving talks at local schools and churches to
medical service, and you're interested only in donating some time, we call
or email us! We'd be glad to hear from you.
Extra income can always strengthen any organization and money given to the Cryonics
Institute would enable us to do more and to provide even better service, with
better technology. It will allow us to withstand any great legal, social or
political challenges we may face. We have faced such challenges in the past, survived
and have been strengthened as a result. We have been helped by tremendous support from
our Members and friends.
Giving
Doesn't Have To Hurt
Members can help financially by arranging for regular small donations from a credit card.
Or they can increase the amount of the life insurance to a figure well above the minimum
required for cryopreservation. (This is a good idea anyway, because new technologies may
become available in the future at extra cost.)
Some
of the most generous and helpful donations we receive are in the form of
bequests. Members will simply make CI the beneficiary of a large portion of their
estate, so that the organization that is keeping them cryopreserved will be
stronger and more certain to be able to maintain them in cryopreservation for as long as
necessary.
Giving
For Research
Our
Research Department is
headed by Dr. Yuri Pichugin,
a Ph.D cryobiologist with well over twenty years' experience, and nearly
forty publications in peer-reviewed professional journals to his credit.
Since joining CI, Dr. Pichugin has even been asked to consult with personnel at
Harvard Medical School on matters involving children's epilepsy.
Dr.
Pichugin's experiments have resulted in unquestionable improvements in our
levels of patient care. And his new series of experiments could not only
add significantly to our members' earlier recovery and well-being, but to
the general scientific knowledge itself. The rewards to people like you who
are interested in cryonics, and to society in general, could be immense.

Tax-Deductible
Contributions
The Cryonics
Institute accepts donations. But although we are a non-profit corporation
we are not a charitable corporation. So contributions to CI are not tax-deductible.
Contributions
to the Immortalist Society are tax-deductible, however, because the Immortalist
Society is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. And the
Immortalist Society has a Cryonics Research Fund which has contributed greatly to the
research program of the Cryonics Institute. If you have appreciated assets in the form
of stock or real estate that you wish to donate, you may be able to donate the full
appreciated value of those assets and deduct the full amount of that appreciated value
from your income tax. For details on this subject visit the page on our website entitled
Maximizing
Tax Benefits of Charitable Giving to the Immortalist Society (click on the underscored title).
