Nanomedicine, Vol. I, by Robert A.Freitas Jr., is now available, and can be ordered by clicking on it.
For many laymen, the book is both expensive ($89) and pitched at a relatively high technical level. Nevertheless, it may be worth it, just to get a sense of the potential ahead and the seriousness and relevance of the work being done.
For scientists and physicians it is really indispensable. Too many of them have only the most superficial acquaintance with nanotechnology, and dismiss it as pie-in-the-sky, pure speculation--whereas in fact it has drawn large scale investment of both money and talent, and is churning out advances on almost a daily basis.
Nobody claims that general-purpose medical nanbots will be available soon enough to prevent the death by senescence of some of today's adults. But serious readers may not rule that out, and the prospect of nanotech revival of cryonics patients seems to some of us to have a high probability.
