May 11, 1998: Cryonics Institute has suspended another patient, bringing our human whole-body patient population to twenty seven. We do not expect to release much information any time soon, for reasons of family privacy. The patient was a middle-aged Californian who died of cancer, at home under hospice care. Hospice care is generally a very good arrangement, usually allowing immediate application of our procedures. In some jurisdictions, in a hospice-care situation, a family member can make the determination of death, checking with hospice personnel by telephone to consult on vital signs.
