The Cryonics Institute has an on-line mapper (called Frappr) that some of our Members have used
to give their location and selected biographical information, which usually includes means to send
the Member an Email message. The Frappr allows CI Members to contact other CI Members without
knowing the Email address of the Members they are contacting. This gives any CI Member who is contacted
by Email through the Frappr the option to either respond or to retain the privacy of their Email address.
Anyone can add themselves to the Cryonics Institute Frappr Map, but CI requests that only
CI Members add themselves. The Frappr Map Administrator can remove people from the Frappr
who are not CI Members. If CI Members want inclusion, but prefer not to do the addition
themselves they can send an Email message to the CI Headquarters requesting to be added
to the Frappr. Such requests should include at minimum zip code (if in the USA) or name
of a nearby major city plus country name (if not in the USA) and the name of the
CI Member wishing to be added.
By the simplest way of adding yourself to the Cryonics Institute Frappr map, you don't
need to log in to Frappr or create a password. Follow the following steps:
(2) Look at the right-hand side of the page where there
is a blue bar with the words "Add to Map". The leftmost
tab should be active ("Add Yourself")
(3) Enter Name in top row and Email address in second row
(4) Location line seems to give people the most
problem. In the US I believe that it is simplest to
just use zip code and country name
eg, "48035 USA" (postal code and country). Outside
the USA, use a nearby large city and the name of
the country.
(5) Select Gender (Guys or Gals) (click on radio button)
(6) If you want to send a message or upload a photo
from your computer you can optionally do so in
the next two lines
(7) Enter the code you see to the right of the code
box into the code box. This will verify that you
are a living human and not a "bot"
(8) Click the "Add Me" button
That should be all you need to do -- no password required !
And if you get it wrong you can fix it.
In the same column below the "Add to Map" blue bar there
is a "Map Markers" blue bar. You should see your name
and your address listed in the Map Markers section. At
the top of that section you will see:
"Your Name (Edit entry) (Remove)"
if you don't like what you see, you should can either
update the information by clicking "(Edit entry)" or
you can simply remove your entry entirely by clicking
(Remove). "(Edit entry)" should allow you to correct
location information.
However, if you (Remove) yourself you cannot
repeat the steps of the above process to add
yourself with the same password because Frappr now has
your e-mail address. Now if you want to make changes
you must log in with a password and create an account.
In logging-in, click on the "Forgot password" option
and a password will be sent to your e-mail address.
To log in with your e-mail address and password,
go to the upper left hand corner of
Cryonics Institute Frappr Map
and click "Log in", which will result in a prompt for
your e-mail address and password. Click the "Login"
button when these have been entered. On the left side
of the page there is a "My Profile" section. In the
lower right corner of that section there is an
"Edit Profile>>" which you can click to correct
information about your location and to enter other
information about yourself. You hit the "Save"
button to save this information.
Now you can hit the blue "Cryonics Ins.." tab
at the top of the page. And again you can go to
the "Add to Map" blue bar on the right, which
will now already have your name and location. Then
you can complete the steps as above to add yourself
to the Cryonics Instititue Members Frappr map.
When you are finished you can go to the upper left
hand corner of
Cryonics Institute Frappr Map
and click "logout".
